We have a ‘new’ member of the FT team, she answers to the name of Gertsey. As you can see she is a fine steed of high breeding and has carried me with fair speed from Thusis in Switzerland to Worms in Germany. Ok, now those little complaints have cleared up, I’m off to meet Michele and continue the ride up the Rhine.

A fine looking beast - have you got a bit of margarine tub clipped on with a peg in the spokes? I can recommend it. can’t see a beard anywhere though

New team member? I thought that you had stumbled upon a wondering soul who was also chosing the longest route possible to get from Higher Odcombe to Lower Odcombe.
Now now Chris, I know you were keen on discovery, but this is getting ridiculous. Surely there is a back road between your house and the Church? Did you really need to go the ultimately long way around, across most of central Europe?
In other news I have bought a bike so I have my own alternative method of transport which is great in a city as flat as Bath…….
I hope to write something for the White Room this coming week, as pretty soon it will all be in post analysis of the almighty adventure and I am sure that there is a call for more wit and intrigue.

Rob is refering to the beard I tried to grow. Chur in Switzerland holds a famous annual beard competition. So, I thought I’d give it a go. Two weeks in and it was itching like crazy added about 10 years due to the grey highlights and I could feel Michele’s displesure before she had even seen it.
I’ll do the ‘ticker’ when I get home !!

Nick,
As far as I’m concerned it is safer to get from Higher to Lower Odcombe via Venice than it is to take any of the dark and misterious paths.
Orchard path, “You can’t keep up with the ants”
Donn Lane, “Them Badgers will av’ ee’”
Boundhay, “Mister Bamboozal, will get you”
So anyway, lets see a picture of your beast of burden !
