As you can see we’ve got a new banner picture !!

This is a picture from the Old Odcombe collection. It’s taken from near our front door in Lower Odcombe, although it was a little before our time !!

On the left is ‘The Odcombe Inn’, one of the pubs (I think three) that are no longer serving in the village, if anyone knows when they shut? What they were like? who were the landlords? and any other interesting facts, that would be great. Either add a comment to this post or contact us by email or the comments form.
In the middle of the shot is the Masons Arms, the last remaining and thankfully fine establishment. In fact I may have to go for a pint in a minute, to celebrate the longest day !!

So, the questions on everybody’s lips; who is that lad ? what is he looking at ? and what would the speech bubble say?…………………………………..

  • Hey look, I’ve found an “f” in the road.
  • I’m hiding, you can’t see me.
  • Zider [repeat as required when drunk].
  • Is it tom thumb that we’re following?
  • Your mother is a hamster and I fart in your general direction. [in a bad French accent]

Let me know what you think he is thinking or saying !!!

While trying to find some hiking maps of Italy, I stumbled across this site, A Walk in the Mountains by Ben Rice.

What an excellent story !! I’m not sure my creative writing or poetry is going to challenge Ben at the ‘travel writer’s awards’, but it is good to hear about other ‘parallel walkers’.
You’ve given me some splendid ideas, thanks Ben.
But how did you get on with the maps ?? I’m struggling to find anything, the Stanfords website is so frustrating !!

All finished !!

Does that ever really happen? Not in my case !!

I’ve been very frustrated today trying to get this bloody spell checker working in Wordpress admin. I might have another go tomorrow or I might just stuff it and leave my spelling abilities open to the copy editors amongst you.

I’m going to sort the pictures page next, any suggestions would be most appriciated.

I might even get to do a post about the walk !!
